Thanks to the eagle-eyed long
time Roxy fan John S. - we have a newly discovered Roxy
film appearance! The film is low budget fun; played comedically tongue-in-cheek.
(The Ed Wood style poster on the left bears little in common with the film
itself). The version I saw was from a TV showing and was relatively mild by
today's standards and contained no nudity. It could even be rated PG 13 (unless there's an uncut version somewhere).
The movie is a 1970 sexploitation quickie called "NIGHT OF THE WITCHES". Unfortunately Roxy only has about a
three minute appearance. The film was produced, directed, written by, and
starred, movie & TV actor *Keith Larson ("Women Of The Prehistoric Planet", "The Aquanauts") as a leacherous traveling preacher who beds every woman in sight, until he runs into a witches' coven and meets his judgement day.
Roxy plays Rosita, a girl who helps the preacher escape jail, only to fall prey to his silver-tongued charms.
Unfortunately, after a few minutes of hinted-at sex, he dumps her and steals her car. Besides the short length of Roxy's appearance, the segment is at night so we don't get to see her as well as we'd like.
In the credits she's
listed as "Susie Edgell" (?), but there's absolutely no doubt it's our Roxy -
the overbite, the huge mound of hair, her fantastic figure highlighted by a
tight dress, the voice souding like warm coffee (to me anyways). This is most
probably Roxy's film debut.
*Larsen had quite a busy career in numerous
B movies and TV shows in the 60's & 70's, and was married to star Vera Mills
from 1960 to 73. (The soundtrack was done by Sean Bonniwell...and for those of
you who were around in the 60's, like me - you may recall his band "The Music
Machine" and their big hit of the time "Talk, Talk".)
And a big thank
you again to John S. for calling attention to this one. He also called my
attention to the fact that this could probably be the mistaken "Preacher" film
that the "Sleazoid Express" listed (see below) as featuring an appearance by
Roxy Brewer.
Now if only we can find a copy of YOUNG
SECRETARIES!

"I'm ready for my close-up
Mr.DeMille."
Roxy's screen credits are unfortunately not very
lengthy. Her primary starring vehicle was the 1974 film FEMALE CHAUVINISTS with Uschi Digart. Roxy is the featured lead as a reporter's girlfriend who goes undercover to infiltrate a summer camp for radical feminists.
Much sought after cult poster, more popular than the film.
Roxy shows the proper way Roxy demonstrates how to take
a bath standing up in the aptly Roxy demonstrates how to relax And here's some terrific information from Roxy fan "Charlie S" about those wonderfully tacky sets you see in the
pictures above. He sent me a very informative email about where those loops were
filmed. (Rather than put it the Email section I thought it was more appropriate
here).
Again, thank you Charlie. That's the point of a site like this, to be able get this kind of
information that helps us get a clearer picture of Roxy's career and the times
she worked in.
Uschi Digart is standing on the far left.

MY BODY IS SO WET.
She is seen to good advantage in the 1984 loop compilation BIG BUST BABES vol.1 (available from almost any adult video outlet) also starring Candy Samples & Roberta Pedon among others. Two of her loops are featured in this
one; Climax Of The Day and MyBody
Is So Wet. Her loops run about 7 minutes together. If you can find
the original loops they run about 5 minutes longer. If she has other ones they may be in BIG BUST SUPERSTARS (1984) but I've
been unable to locate a copy to verify this.

"I'm a lawyer. From 1974 to 1980 I worked for two
law firms in Seattle that represented most of the magazine distributors in the
Pacific Northwest, and what there was of a sex industry. American Art
Enterprises was the major West Coast producer of visual porn during that
period and I spent some time in California working with their staff. I became
friends with Larry Shaw who edited some 25 or 30 of their magazines...and I
spent some time at the porno-industrial complex in North Hollywood.
I
haven't been there in 25 years, so I have no idea what it's like now; but then
there were two buildings: a nice office for Milton Luros (who owned AAE) and
the editorial folks; and the warehouse, which was really a converted storage
warehouse. It had mailing and distribution facilities, processing rooms, and a
couple of sound stages (very small and there may have been three
or four of them). One was that ridiculous bathtub exterior, with the glued-on
red shag rug, a swinging light above the tub, and lots of electrical
outlets near the tub. Several models of the era made short films on the set,
Alas,I never met Roxanne. I'm sure it would have been an
experience. My best contact with AAE (especially for gossip) was Larry Shaw,
who, alas, died in 1985, and I don't recall anything he said about Roxy. He
worked on the still photograph side of the business, so he wouldn't have been involved in the movies. Usually the photographers went to a "site"...the
girl's apartment,the photog's studio, a friend's house, the woods around
Chatsworth. (Not many left now, I'll bet!)-- and turned the film in, so I
can't tell much from backgrounds".

Roxy also appeared in the 1976 soft-core sex romp DEEP JAWS Though she
only has five walk-on scenes, a couple of them are worth the wait. Basically her character is constantly interrupting a frazzled movie producer by prancing
around him with a tennis cap, racket, and little else, repeating over and over
"love, love, love". She finally gets his full attention in an extended sequence wherein she bumps, grinds, and makes her "assets" dance until the poor guy's
reduced to silly putty. (As you can tell from this still). She's very sexy &
funny (much like some of her photos). One only wishes Roxy would have been given a starring role. It's mystifying because (in my opinion) she looks so much better and sexier than the other women in the cast.
Roxy can
also be seen VERY briefly (again!) in the under-rated 1978 Burt Reynolds good
ol' boy flick HOOPER. In this one she jumps out of a
cake topless and embraces actor Robert Klein. It's only a few (too quick)
seconds of film unfortunately.
In the Sleazoid Express book GRINDHOUSE the authors have mistakenly listed Roxy
in a cameo role in the 1970 low-budget indie THE PREACHER, but having sat through
the epic I can vouch for a fact that they have Roxy confused with another actress
named Coleen McGee. In fact Roxy is NOT in this film.
